Getting Around Las Vegas

Once visitors arrive in Las Vegas, 50% prefer to drive their own vehicle. If you arrive in Las Vegas by plane you will need to consider how you are going to get around. Public transportation in Las Vegas is excellent. The Las Vegas transportation companies are very good at moving a lot of visitors from the airport to the hotels and back.

Most of the large Las Vegas hotels offer free shuttle service between the airport and hotel. There are also shuttle buses that travel throughout Las Vegas and are a great way to get around.

If you prefer not to wait for the shuttle, you can always grab a taxi. The taxi cabs are great because they know how to get around Vegas and can pick you up and drop you off at the exact location. They are also the best way to get back to your hotel after a night of partying.

If you want to have more freedom for traveling around Las Vegas, then consider renting a car. Traffic in Las Vegas is really not that bad and having a rental car in Las Vegas lets you explore more of the city and surrounding areas. The major hotels on the Las Vegas Strip have designated parking garages for their customers, so parking usually isn't an issue.

If you are staying on the Las Vegas Strip, then be sure to take advantage of the monorail! The monorail is a quick, easy, and fun way to get from one end of the Vegas Strip to the other. Of course it can't stop at every destination, but the stops are located close enough for you to easily travel between the Las Vegas casinos.

A lot of visitors get around Las Vegas by walking. A walk down the Las Vegas Strip at night is a lot of fun. You have the freedom to walk through the different resorts and casinos, watch the Bellagio fountains, visit the unique stores, and experience the Vegas nightlife. Of course, you need to make sure you take comfortable walking shoes. You will be surprised at how much of Las Vegas you can cover by strolling along the Vegas Strip.

Don't forget about downtown Las Vegas. While the Las Vegas Strip has most of the big hotels and resorts, downtown Las Vegas has a combination of the old style casinos mixed with the hi-tech video screen covering Fremont Street. While 38% of Las Vegas visitors get to the downtown area, over half of them go to see the Fremont Street experience.
